Birchwood's
Wildflowers In 2008, the "dog-bone" roundabout George Duckworth Island was planted with wildflower seeds in what seems to have been a trial run for more extensive planting in 2009. For 2009, seven areas within Birchwood were chosen for a much more ambitious planting scheme of wildflower meadows which has been very successful in brightening up the area. The initiative has received a lot of positive comments. On this page is a gallery of images taken during July and August. All but one of the photographs were taken at the wildflower meadow alongside Ordnance Avenue, one of the largest areas to have been planted. Update June 2010: This year's wildflowers are more extensive with some new planting. I'll be out and about again in a few weeks capturing images of this year's display. They were planted by Birchwood Town Council in collaboration with Warrington Borough Council. |
