ROF Risley
Birchwood's Former Munitions Factory

The area that we know today as Birchwood was largely created from the demolition of the former Royal Ordnance Factory at Risley.  Some remnants of the factory survived and still exist today, although they are becoming scarcer as the local area continues to develop.

Whilst there is information about the factory throughout my Birchwood pages, this section looks specifically at the former factory and places it into a national context.

Pages

Remnants One of the oldest of my Birchwood pages, some the remnants of the former Risley ROF that can be seen today are shown.
National Placing Risley into the national picture by listing all of the former ROF filling factories and showing where they were located as well as what is there now.  The first page sets the scene, before the other 4 pages take you on a virtual tour of the factory sites with some help from embedded Google satellite images.
